5 hour professional workshop learning how to use twitter, wikis, and blogs in the classroom.

Pre-training
1. Fill out questionnaire and send back to instructor three days prior to the workshop for collaboration groups to be generated.
2. Access graphic organizer and answer questions.
3. Participants need to access the three technologies websites prior to the first day of the workshop.

Day 1
Introduction – 20 minutes
- Facilitator will welcome the group and read over emails previously sent to participants and have a group discussion concerning the three technologies that will be utilized in the classroom.
Why use technology in the classroom – 20 min
-Facilitator will show the video clip (Did you know) and discuss the importance of technology in the classroom.
Get in groups and get to know individuals – 20 min
- Form groups of participants and talk about strengths and weaknesses associated with technology in the classroom *Participants can email instructor or other group members if they wish to continue this discussion past the 1 hour session

Day 2: Learn to twitter
Welcome & pick up handout– 5 minutes
Watch introduction video “How to Use Twitter”– 5 min
Walk participants through creating a twitter account and setting up specifics – 20 min
Post information about twitter to webpage, email parents, send first tweet – 10 minutes
Work in groups – what do you need or want to tweet about to parents? How can this be a useful tool in your classroom? – 15 min
Wrap up – 5

Day 3: Learn to wiki
Welcome – 5 min
Watch video – Using wikis in the classroom – 3 min
Watch video – Introduction – 2 min
Watch video – Personal wiki – 2 min
Walk participants through creating a wikispace and setting up specifics. – 15 min
Watch video – Files and Pictures – 2 min
Creating new pages and upload lesson plans, worksheets, etc. – 15 min
Watch video – Embed Widgets – 2min
Embed widgets – 10 min
Wrap up – 4 min

Day 4: Learn to blog
Welcome – 5 min
Watch video – Why Blog? – 2 min
How to create a edublog (PDF) and create a blog – 10 min
Writing your first post (PDF) and create first post – 15 min
Group work - Inserting images, video or audio files, embedding videos (video), and inserting documents (PDFs) and completing each task – 25 min
Wrap up – 3 min

Day 5: Wrap-up
Welcome and video – Up to the challenge – 10 min
Group work – compare and talk about twitter, wiki, and blogs – 20 min
How to utilize these technologies in the classroom – 15 min
Wrap up & evaluations– 15 min
